《私は「神」の安らぎを望みます。》
I want the peace of God.
単にこれらの言葉を言うことだけなら何の意味もありません。
To say these words is nothing.
しかし、これらの言葉を本気で言うことにはすべての意味があります。
But to mean these words is everything.
もしほんの瞬間であれ、これらの言葉を本気で意図することができるならば、あなたにとってどのような形においても、どんな場所でも、いついかなる時でも、もうこれ以上悲しみは不可能でしょう。
If you could but mean them for just an instant, there would be no further sorrow possible for you in any form; in any place or time.
「天国」は完全に戻って１００パーセント自覚されるようになり、「神」についての記憶はすべてが回復され、すべての創造物の復活が完全に認識されるでしょう。
Heaven would be completely given back to full awareness, memory of God entirely restored, the resurrection of all creation fully recognized.
これらの言葉を本気で言う人で（真に）癒されない人はいません。
No one can mean these words and not be healed.
その人は夢の数々で戯れれることはできず、自分自身が夢であると考えることもできません。
He cannot play with dreams, nor think he is himself a dream.
地獄を自分（の自我）で作ってそれが実在すると考えることはできません。
He cannot make a hell and think it real.
彼は「神」の安らぎを望み、それは彼に与えられます。
He wants the peace of God, and it is given him.
というのは、それは彼が望むことのすべてであり、彼が受け取ることのすべてだからです。
For that is all he wants, and that is all he will receive.
数多くの人たちがこれらの言葉を口にしました。
Many have said these words.
しかし、本気でそう言った人はほとんどいませんでした。
But few indeed have meant them.
本気でそういった人の数がいかに少ないかを確かめたければあなたの周囲の世界を見れば十分です。
You have but to look upon the world you see around you to be sure how very few they are.
誰であれ二人の人がこれらの言葉は彼らが望むことだけを表現していると同意するならば、この世界は完全に変わることでしょう。
The world would be completely changed, should any two agree these words express the only thing they want.
一つの意図を持った二つのマインドは非常に強くなり、それらの意志が意図することは「神の意志」となります。
Two minds with one intent become so strong that what they will becomes the Will of God.
というのは、マインドは真実においてのみ一緒になることができるからです。
For minds can only join in truth.
夢の中では二つのマインドが同じ意図を共有することはできません。
In dreams, no two can share the same intent.
それぞれにとって、夢の英雄は異なっており、望まれている結果も両者にとって同じではありません。
To each, the hero of the dream is different; the outcome wanted not the same for both.
敗北者と勝利者は、損失に対する利益の比率と利益に対する損失の比率が異なった側面を帯び、別な形をとる中で、パターンを変えながら変わります。
Loser and gainer merely shift about in changing patterns, as the ratio of gain to loss and loss to gain takes on a different aspect or another form.
しかしながら、夢は妥協だけをもたらすことができます。
Yet compromise alone a dream can bring.
時にはそれは合体の形をとります。しかし、形だけです。
Sometimes it takes the form of union, but only the form.
意味はかならず夢から逃れます。というのは、妥協することが夢を見ることの目標であるからです。
The meaning must escape the dream, for compromising is the goal of dreaming.
マインドは夢の中で一体になることはできません。
Minds cannot unite in dreams.
彼らはただ値引きの交渉をするだけです。
They merely bargain.
しかし、どのような値引きが彼らに「神」の安らぎを与えることができるでしょうか。
And what bargain can give them the peace of God?
幻想が「神」にとって代わるためにやってきます。
Illusions come to take His place.
そして、「神」が意味することは、自分が利益を得て相手が損をすることをそれぞれが意図して眠っているマインドには分かりません。
And what He means is lost to sleeping minds intent on compromise, each to his gain and to another's loss.
「神」の安らぎを望むと本気で思うことはすべての（自我に基づいた）夢を放棄することです。
To mean you want the peace of God is to renounce all dreams.
というのは、（自我に基づいた）幻想を望み、したがって、幻想をもたらす手段を探求する者は誰もこれらの言葉を本気で思うことはないからです。
For no one means these words who wants illusions, and who therefore seeks the means which bring illusions.
彼はそれらの言葉を見つめ、それらには欠けたものがあると思ったのです。
He has looked on them, and found them wanting.
今や、彼は別な夢も他の夢以上のものは何も差し出してはくれないことを認識して、それらを超越して探求します。
Now he seeks to go beyond them, recognizing that another dream would offer nothing more than all the others.
彼にとって夢は一つです。
Dreams are one to him.
そして、彼はそれらの唯一の違いは形の違いであることを学んだのです。というのは、他の夢と同じように、一つの夢は同じ絶望と悲惨をもたらすからです。
And he has learned their only difference is one of form, for one will bring the same despair and misery as do the rest.
自分が望むものは安らぎだけであると本気で思うマインドは他のマインドと一緒にならなければなりません。というのは、安らぎはそのようにして得られるからです。
The mind which means that all it wants is peace must join with other minds, for that is how peace is obtained.
そして、安らぎに対する欲求が本物である時、それを見つけるための手段はそれを正直に探求するそれぞれのマインドが理解できるような形で与えられます。
And when the wish for peace is genuine, the means for finding it is given, in a form each mind that seeks for it in honesty can understand.
彼の依頼が誠実なものであれば、レッスンがどのような形をとるとしても彼が間違うことはあり得ないような形で彼のために計画されます。
Whatever form the lesson takes is planned for him in such a way that he can not mistake it, if his asking is sincere.
しかし、誠実さ抜きに依頼した場合には、そのレッスンが受け容れられ真に学ばれるような形はありません。
But if he asks without sincerity, there is no form in which the lesson will meet with acceptance and be truly learned.
今日は、私たちが言う言葉を本気でそう思うということを認識することに私たちの練習を捧げることにしましょう。
Let us today devote our practicing to recognizing that we really mean the words we say.
私たちは「神」の安らぎを望んでいます。
We want the peace of God.
これは安易な願望ではありません。
This is no idle wish.
これらの言葉は別な夢が私たちに与えられるようにと要請してはいません。
These words do not request another dream be given us.
これらの言葉は妥協を依頼してはおらず、他の全てが失敗しても何かまだ別のものがあるかもしれないことを願いながら更なる安売りを交渉するものではありません。
They do not ask for compromise, nor try to make another bargain in the hope that there may yet be one that can succeed where all the rest have failed.
これらの言葉を本気で思うことは、（自我に基づいた）幻想は無駄なものであることを承認し、差し出すものにおいて変化するようでありながら無において一つである移ろいゆく夢の代わりに永遠なるものを要請することです。
To mean these words acknowledges illusions are in vain, requesting the eternal in the place of shifting dreams which seem to change in what they offer, but are one in nothingness.
今日は、あなたがいまだに大切にしている（自我に基づいた）夢を発見するためにあなたのマインドを注意深く探すことに練習時間を捧げてください。
Today devote your practice periods to careful searching of your mind, to find the dreams you cherish still.
あなたは心の中で何を依頼したいでしょうか。
What do you ask for in your heart?
要請をするときにあなたが使う言葉を忘れてください。
Forget the words you use in making your requests.
あなたを慰め、あなたに幸せをもたらしてくれるとあなたが信じることだけを考えてください。
Consider but what you believe will comfort you, and bring you happiness.
しかし、ぐずぐずして離れない（自我に基づいた）幻想に心を乱されないでください。というのは、（自我に基づく）幻想の形は今や重要ではないからです。
But be you not dismayed by lingering illusions, for their form is not what matters now.
一部の夢は受け容れてもよいと見なし、他の夢を恥ずべきものとして秘密にしておくことはないようにしましょう。
Let not some dreams be more acceptable, reserving shame and secrecy for others.
夢は一つです。
They are one.
そして、夢はひとつであるがゆえに、すべての夢に対して一つの質問がなされるべきです。"これが「天国」と「神」の安らぎの代わりに私が持ちたいものだろうか？"
And being one, one question should be asked of all of them, "Is this what I would have, in place of Heaven and the peace of God?"
これこそあなたがする選択です。
This is the choice you make.
別な選択をすべきであるとだまされないでください。
Be not deceived that it is otherwise.
この選択においてはいかなる妥協も不可能です。
No compromise is possible in this.
あなたは「神」の安らぎを選択するか、それとも、夢を依頼しているかのどちらかです。
You choose God's peace, or you have asked for dreams.
そして、夢はあなたが依頼したようにやって来るでしょう。
And dreams will come as you requested them.
しかしながら、「神」の安らぎもまたそれと同じくらい確実にやってきて、永遠にあなたのもとにとどまるでしょう。
Yet will God's peace come just as certainly, and to remain with you forever.
「神」の安らぎは、道が曲がるたびごとに姿を消して、あなたが一歩歩むたびに移ろい変化する形をとって、それとは認識されずに再び姿を現すということはないでしょう。
It will not be gone with every twist and turning of the road, to reappear, unrecognized, in forms which shift and change with every step you take.
あなたは「神」の安らぎを望んでいます。
You want the peace of God.
そして、夢を探求しているように見える人々も「神」の安らぎを望んでいます。
And so do all who seem to seek for dreams.
あなたが深い誠実さをもってこの要請をするとき、あなたはあなた自身のためだけではなく彼らのためにもこれだけを依頼しているのです。
For them as well as for yourself, you ask but this when you make this request with deep sincerity.
というのは、このようにしてあなたは彼らが本当に望んでいるものに到達し、あなた自身の意図を彼らが他の何にもまして探求しているものと一緒にするからです。それは、ひょっとすると彼らには分かっていないかもしれませんがあなたには確かなものであると分かっています。
For thus you reach to what they really want, and join your own intent with what they seek above all things, perhaps unknown to them, but sure to you.
あなたはこれまでにしばしば弱さを見せ、あなたの目的に確信が持てず、自分が何を望んでいるのか、どこを探せばよいのか、その探求をするにあたってどこに助けを求めればよいのか確信を持てないこともありました。
You have been weak at times, uncertain in your purpose, and unsure of what you wanted, where to look for it, and where to turn for help in the attempt.
そういうあなたに援助が与えられました。
Help has been given you.
それを共有することによって活用したいと思わないでしょうか。
And would you not avail yourself of it by sharing it?
真に「神」の安らぎを探求する者は誰もそれを発見することに失敗することはありません。
No one who truly seeks the peace of God can fail to find it.
というのは、自分自身に「神の意志」であるものを否定することによって自分をこれ以上だますことのないようにと依頼するだけだからです。
For he merely asks that he deceive himself no longer by denying to himself what is God's Will.
自分がすでに持っているものを依頼して不満を持ち続けることができる人はいません。
Who can remain unsatisfied who asks for what he has already?
自分が人に与えるものとして持っている答えを要請すれば必ず答えは得られます。
Who could be unanswered who requests an answer which is his to give?
「神」の安らぎはあなたのものです。
The peace of God is yours.
あなたのために安らぎは創造され、その「創造主」によってあなたに与えられ、「神自身」の永遠の贈り物として確立されたのです。
For you was peace created, given you by its Creator, and established as His Own eternal gift.
「神」があなたのために意図されていることを依頼して失敗するということがあり得るでしょうか。
How can you fail, when you but ask for what He wills for you?
あなたの要請があなたにだけ限定されるということが一体可能でしょうか。
And how could your request be limited to you alone?
神の贈り物で共有できないものはありません。
No gift of God can be unshared.
真実に取って代わるように見えたすべての夢と「神」の贈り物を区別するのはこの属性です。
It is this attribute that sets the gifts of God apart from every dream that ever seemed to take the place of truth.
「神」の贈り物が要請され誰かによって受け取られる時、誰も損をすることはなく、すべての人が得をします。
No one can lose and everyone must gain whenever any gift of God has been requested and received by anyone.
「神」は一体になるためにのみ与えられます。
God gives but to unite.
奪うことは「神」にとって無意味です。
To take away is meaningless to Him.
奪うことがあなたにとっても同様に無意味である時、あなたは「神」と一つの「意志」を共有し、「神」も一つの「意志」をあなたと共有していると確信してください。
And when it is as meaningless to you, you can be sure you share one Will with Him, and He with you.
そしてまた、あなたは一つの「意志」を、あなたの意図と同じ意図を持っているあなたの兄弟のすべてと共有していることも知るでしょう。
And you will also know you share one Will with all your brothers, whose intent is yours.
今日私たちが探求するのはこの一つの意図であり、私たちの願望を、すべての心の必要性、すべてのマインドの呼び声、絶望の彼方に横たわる希望、攻撃が隠してしまう愛、憎しみが切断しようとしてきたにもかかわらずいまだに「神」が創造されたままである兄弟愛と一体にするのです。
It is this one intent we seek today, uniting our desires with the need of every heart, the call of every mind, the hope that lies beyond despair, the love attack would hide, the brotherhood that hate has sought to sever, but which still remains as God created it.
このような「助け」が私たちの傍らにあるなかで、今日私たちは「神」の安らぎが私たちに与えられることを要請するわけですが、失敗するということはあり得ないのではないでしょうか。
With Help like this beside us, can we fail today as we request the peace of God be given us?
